Estimate Options & Transparency

Learn how much a service or procedure might cost you through exploring our cost estimate resources.

What is a price estimate?

Many patients want to know what their care will cost before it happens. We can help with several ways for you to receive a price estimate. A price estimate is the predicted cost of your care. It is based on the procedures that you expect to receive.

A price estimate is not a guarantee. Your charges may be higher or lower, depending on:

  • The actual services you receive in consultation with your doctor
  • Whether you have health insurance and if the treatment is covered by your plan
  • How much your health insurer says is your share of the costs

To understand your financial responsibility, it’s important that you contact your insurance company once your provider has told you the procedures likely to be performed.

Get a price estimate from Samaritan

Price estimates for self-pay patients are auto generated typically within three (3) days of your scheduled visit.

For all other estimates, inquire with your doctor’s office to obtain the CPT® code(s) for your procedure or service.

Once you have this information, then you can call our Financial Access Specialists at 509-765-5606 ext. 9766 to request an estimate:

  • If you cannot pay the patient responsibility portion of your bill, our Financial Access Specialists and/or Financial Counselors can assist with applying for Financial Assistance, Medicaid, Apple Health programs and Washington Health Benefit Exchange.
  • For out of state Medicaid and Exchange programs, resources can be provided.
  • Call a member of our Financial Access Specialist Team at 509-765-5606 ext. 9766 or a Financial Counselor at 509-793-9715.
Create a self-generated price estimate

You can create your own estimate using our patient estimates tool. It has prices for over 300 often-used services.

The tool is available to everyone and users can save time because the tool will estimate based on the insurance coverage or self-pay option selected.

To create an estimate

The tool allows you to search using text or CPT® code. Those are codes, in numerals, that doctors use to bill insurance companies. Our office can tell you what the code is for your visit.

Consumer Estimate FAQs

A Consumer Estimate is designed to make it easier for consumers to shop and compare prices across hospitals and estimate the cost of their care before going to the hospital.

Unfortunately, Samaritan does not perform all of the services in the CMS Shoppable Services list.

The “you pay” section will reflect your expected out-of-pocket costs, which will either be a product of our fully loaded rates after a self-pay discount, or a balance of your benefit allowance (e.g. deductible, co-pay, co-insurance, etc.) after your insurance has paid their negotiated rate in consideration of your plan benefit.

The estimate you retrieve from this website or MyChart, will be valid for only 30 days. After that, you will need to create a new one.

Estimates expire after 30 days from creation due to a variety of reasons, the primary being due to changes that may occur in pricing, coding, or billing data, contract terms, as well as storage and safety concerns.

You may be required to pay a larger out-of-pocket amount, possibly up to the entire billed amount.

Estimates are calculated using current pricing modeled against historical charge data. If you have insurance benefits and we are contracted with that company, then they may take into consideration our reimbursement rates along with your benefit terms.

Since our estimates are designed to consider the median or average patient experience the “low” and “high” pricing is provided to reflect those patients who had more or less care requirements, which resulted in more or less charges for that service, as a reference to the potential charge range that could result from having that service rendered.

The Hospital fees reflect the costs associated with the use of the hospital and employed personnel. For example, the cost for the office/clinic space, equipment, ancillary services, and nursing personnel.

Physician fees reflect the work/time that your provider spends with you during the care process either during a visit, surgical procedure, or test.

The information we receive from your insurance company may not reflect the most recent payments made to other providers/hospitals.

We recommend that you contact your insurance company to confirm your benefits met to date.
